SwimMeet

SwimMeet is designed specifically for you, the parent of a high school swimmer. Keeping score is a fun way to stay involved. Think of SwimMeet as the ultimate productivity app in the stands. You can easily keep track of the score, quickly review past events, share the current score with friends and family with integrated tweets and share event details through other apps like e-mail.

Notes to Testers

  • Touch the orbs to record which team came in first, second, etc.  It's that easy.
  • The score is displayed on the top of the screen.
  • Use the sharing charm to send the score to any application like e-mail.
  • Use the settings charm to authorize twitter to tweet on your behalf.
  • Use the app bar to change the events, scoring, and to tweet.

This app fast & fluid, has a pure Windows 8 look & feel, and has compelling data publishing aspect. People who are at a swim meet are always ask others what the score is. Once they start getting tweets on their phone with the score from this app, they may want to learn more about the platform.

Details for Developers

  • I use the twitter authorization code mentioned here to support in-app tweets.
  • I use the charm flyout code mentioned here to support various flyouts.
  • I use the parallax code mentioned here to support a slowly moving background.
  • Other than that, this application is pretty straightforward, allowing the user to record event places and then adding up the score.
