Metro Store Submission Questionnaire
So, after waiting over three weeks while my application languishes in "Content Compliance" (usually done within 5 days), I get an e-mail from Microsoft with the questions below about my submission.
What concerns me is that almost all of these questions are answered in my application submission. For example, "Please create screen-shots..." Well, you kind of have to create screen shots to submit you app. In any case, I just ended up e-mailing Microsoft the contents of my submission.

Store Submission Preliminary Questionnaire
1. Please create screen-shots for each screen, zip them and email them – be sure to include for each language supported.
2. Is your App a Calculator, Timer, Flashlight or RSS reader?
a. Is it just the default Grid template with some different data and images – if so how are they unique and or licensed?
3. Is your App a Game?
4. Are you leveraging AppBar, Sharing and Search? Support Portrait and Landscape?
5. Please describe the clear and unique value of your App in 2-3 sentences.
6. What’s your navigation paradigm – flat or hierarchical?
a. Are you using semantic zoom and/or top AppBar navigation items?
7. Does the App snap or have a well formatted and branded UI while snapped? (include screen-shot)
8. Did you create custom art or graphics used in the App?
9. Is your App using trademarked logo or name of another company that is not appropriate?
10. Do you have a custom logo (visible on tile, splash-screen and in-app) and custom background – and is it visible (contrast appropriate) from your tile(s)?
11. Make sure the name of the app does NOT contain words like “trial”, “test”, “beta”, “demo”? Instead you can use ‘preview’ in the description of the app.
12. What does the app offer customers that is unique, creative of value or what utility?
a. Please describe 1-3 short walkthrough complete scenarios (step 1, step 2, etc).
13. Is your App fully functional?
14. If login is required what is the test account needed to login? If purchase is enabled provide payment/override info in the notes section (here).
15. Check that the App doesn’t mention coming features or functions (e.g. “coming soon”, “more to come”, “not available yet” and so on) – and no placeholders for features
16. The app’s main/primary scenario should be implemented within the app and NOT redirect the user to a browser, is that the case with your App?
17. Check that your app doesn’t depend on an another app to complete the user scenario unless that other app is also in the Store - your app cannot include a link or prompts the user to install an app downloaded from some website – does it?
18. Check that your app is built on RP and must not stop responding, end unexpectedly, or contain programming errors. Do you have tiles that don’t work?
19. Does the App work well with touch? Keyboard and mouse?
20. Check that you don’t download a remote script and subsequently execute that script in the local context of your app package?
21. Does your app have a privacy statement and a link to it in the Settings Charm?
a. Personal information includes IP number (i.e. declaring either Internet capabilities), webcam snaps, audio/video recordings, name, address, DOB and other PII, photos, contacts, documents, etc..
b. An acceptable privacy policy is one that complies with applicable laws and regulations, informs users of the information collected by your app and how that information is used, stored, secured and disclosed, and describes the controls that users have over the use and sharing of their information, and how they may access their information.
22. If your app collects or transmits personal information the age rating that you select for your app must be 12+ at least
a. Do you have an independent age rating and a description appropriate for the application?
23. If your app is using a billing system - Do you prompt for authentication for every transaction by default?
24. Did you provide technical support information for your App including a url to a site that is working and not under construction and a working email address?
25. Did you complete description of your app for your customers in each language that you declare in your app's package – and is it fully functional in each language that you declared?
26. Does your app declare capabilities that it doesn’t need? (for example Windows Credentials, Shared User Certifications, Documents Library – you don’t need that if you use FilePicker)
27. Is the app discoverable at least on the primary partner website such as app switch?
a. Do you support deep-linking from the website to a specific section of the app supported (args meta tags)?
28. Did you submit all 4 promotional images (846x468, 558x756, 414x468, 414x180) – and did you use inspiring images (please share them)?
29. Did you upload the app specifying the correct Category (what category did you choose)?
